The month of October is special in the Lehigh Valley, as it brings a variety of ways to scare yourself silly with haunted houses, corn mazes, and ghost tours, as well as Halloween parades, pumpkin picking, and costume creating.  If you are ready for the haunting season, there is plenty to choose from and each will leave you a bit spooked!  With events and things to do for the entire family, the scariest part will be missing one of the attractions you’ve been waiting for.

Historic Haunts of Downtown Bethlehem: Historic Haunts of Downtown Bethlehem will take you on a journey into the past and the paranormal.  An experienced tour guide will escort you through the darkened streets of Bethlehem’s Downtown Historic District with stops and stories at locations reputedly haunted.  Hear the tales of ghostly soldiers patrolling Moravian College.  Learn the legend of Liesel and Lafayette.  Find out who or what haunts the oldest bookstore in the country.  New stops and stories have been added this year for even more chills, thrills and fun!  Call 610-866-5481 for more information.

Halloween Haunt at Dorney Park: Consider yourself warned!  Dorney Park’s Halloween Haunt is sure to be one of the scariest Halloween attractions in the Lehigh Valley.  Opening night was Friday, September 23, 2011.  Prepare to step into a world of ghouls, ghosts, the un-dead, indoor and outdoor mazes, as well as scare factors not meant for children under 13.

Dorney Park has been completely transformed into a dark playland filled with haunted houses, monsters, scary attractions, and heart pounding fear to add fun and excitement to your weekends in October.  This year there are 7 outdoor mazes and 4 indoor mazes to get through if you can, as well as three shows meant to get your heart racing.

Grim’s Fall Festival and Corn Maze: This year’s fall festival has many activities for the whole family including the corn maze, flashlight maze nights, pick-your-own-pumpkins, contests, photo opportunities, and much more!  Located in Breinigsville, Grim’s Fall Festival and Corn Maze is a perfect Halloween event no matter what your age!

Seiple Farms Corn Maze: Come and get lost in this years corn maze that spans over 12 acres with over 4 miles of paths within at Seiple Farms, Route 329 in Bath.  Also enjoy farm animals, a straw maze, a haunted barn, ponyrides, hayrides to the pumpkin patch, and rides and food for everyone!  Saturdays 10am-5pm and Sundays 12pm-5pm during October.  Children ages 3 and under are free, otherwise tickets are either $6 or $7 for the corn maze.  Call 610-837-6282 for more information.

Great Pocono Pumpkin Festival: Come to Country Junction, “The World’s Largest General Store,” to celebrate fall every day in October!  The Great Pumpkin Festival features a petting farm, a huge sand box, a kids’ race track, tattoos, pony rides, carnival rides on the weekends, and $3 pumpkins.  Get Unlimited Ghost Town USA access for $6, including a corn maze, a hay maze, a kiddie’s haunted house, a real pirate ship, a treasure hunt, games, characters, kids’ entertainment, and a teen haunted house.  Weekdays, 12-5; Saturdays and Sundays, 11-6.  Free parking, free festival admission, $6 to Ghost Town USA (under 2, free; season pass, $10).

Jason’s Woods: The Legendary Jason’s Woods is even more terrifying this year with the addition of new characters, new scenes, new stories, and new horrors.  No one does Halloween like Jason’s Woods, and is not meant for anyone with a faint heart.  Especially not geared for children, this Halloween attraction is one of the most anticipated for Lehigh Valley locals and the surrounding areas.  Jason’s Woods is located in Lancaster and is open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during October.
