Heading to a Christmas tree farm on a crisp weekend morning is a family tradition for so many, and if you live in the Lehigh Valley, there are a number of places where you can go to pick the perfect one!
Did you know that Pennsylvania has more Christmas tree farms than any other state in the US? According to the 2002 USDA Agricultural Census, nearly 2000 PA farms produce about 1.7 million cut Christmas trees every year. Why is this important?
Buying fresh trees to turn into a holiday display helps support local farmers and is actually BETTER for the environment than purchasing artificial Christmas trees. Although artificial Christmas trees are reusable from year to year, eventually, they are likely to end up in a landfill. Trees that come from Christmas tree farms are replaced every year, and once used, can be recycled into bird feeding stations or mulch, which is widely used in gardening and landscaping.
Becks Christmas Tree Farm – Slatington
There are 1000’s of trees to choose from on the rolling hillsides of Becks Christmas Tree Farm, so finding your perfect tree is easy! They have many varieties of trees that range in all sizes up to 9 feet. They equip you with a saw to cut your own tree and also provide you with a wheeled tree cart so you can easily carry your tree from the field back to the baling area where they will shake, drill the stump (if needed) and wrap your tree for you free of charge.
Beisel’s Christmas Tree Hill – Lehighton
Enjoy the scenic view from Beisel’s Christmas Tree Hill, where on a clear day you can see for miles up and down Mahoning Valley. Watch your tree sail down the tram way to their sales area where it will be drilled for a stand straight tree stand and bailed. Their sales area is lit at night with fresh cut trees available until 8pm daily.
Crystal Spring Tree Farm – Lehighton
Located at the foothills of the Pocono Mountains, Crystal Spring Tree Farm has grown to nearly 200 acres and offer one of the biggest and best selections of Christmas trees in Eastern PA.
Pine Brook Hollow Tree Farm – Emmaus
Located in a pristine country setting, Pine Brook Hollow Tree Farm offers the options of cut-your-own or pre-cut from their fields. You can also warm up by the fire and enjoy the view of their pond from the Christmas Store! Visit Santa, listen to live Christmas music with a hot beverage, fresh popcorn or apples, and shop for handmade gifts, ornaments, wreaths, garlands, greens, and swags. They also provide tree shaking, drilling for pin type tree stands, and free tree wrapping.
Seiple Farms – Bath
Seiple Farms offers cut your own Douglas Fir 5′ to 9′ or Canaan Fir 5′-6′. They also have pre-cut only Frasier Fir 6′-9′, as well as wreaths, tree stands, tree bags, greens, candles, ornaments and more!
Springfield Tree Farm – Hellertown
Visit Springfield Tree Farm for a wide selection of freshly cut Christmas trees from 5′ to 11′ tall! They also carry wreaths in various sizes, custom decorated wreaths, white pine roping, and swags, all of which are made fresh on the farm.
Tranquility Tree Farm – Emmaus
Wander through 15 acres of Christmas trees at Tranquility Tree Farm and cut your own or choose one of their freshly cut trees. Afterwards, visit with Santa, enjoy their herd of sheep, ride the hay wagon, and visit the country gift shop!
