Labor Day means different things to everyone, but I’m sure everyone can agree that an extended weekend is the perfect way to start winding down the Summer season. Whether you want to use the weekend to relax and take your mind off work or you want to get outdoors and experience some of the events the Lehigh Valley has to offer, never forget the reason we have this 3-day weekend – to pay tribute to working men and women.
Here’s a look at just some of the ways you can spend Labor Day weekend in the Lehigh Valley:
The Great Allentown Fair – Aug. 28 – Sept. 3. Returning for its 160th year, this fair has become a Lehigh Valley signature event that signals the closing of summer and the start of a new fall season. This isn’t your typical fair with a few rides, games, and carnival food; it is SO MUCH MORE!
Fan Appreciation Day at Coca-Cola Park – Sept. 3. The 2012 regular season comes to an end on Labor Day with a 1:35 p.m. first pitch. All fans will be handed a raffle ticket upon entrance to the park and in-between each half inning randomly selected fans will win great IronPigs prizes. The day will also include an authentic home jersey auction in support of IronPigs Charities.
Steelworkers & Friends Labor Day Parade – 11:30am, Sept. 2. The parade starts at Spring and Main Streets in Bethlehem (under the Hill-to-Hill Bridge).
Labor Day Sidewalk Sale at Sands Casino – Aug. 31 – Sept. 3. From 11am through 6pm, get your shopping on at the Shoppes at Sands Luxury Outlets.
