Family Day TripsWhether you live here in the Lehigh Valley or are just visiting, there are a few “must-do” things you don’t want to miss out on.  In the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania’s third most populated metropolitan region, you’ll find excellent schools, a vibrant economy, fine dining, exhilarating recreation, championship golf courses, trendy shopping, even wineries.

With rugged beauty, charm and welcoming atmosphere, you’ll find that the Lehigh Valley is a wonderful place to raise a family, start a new career or just visit… it’s the perfect setting to enjoy remarkable history, rich culture and dynamic nightlife.

Here are just a few of the things that top the charts in the Lehigh Valley:

1. The Lehigh Valley is home to a variety of things to do that are perfect for just yourself, a couple, a family, a group of friends, or even a party; The Lehigh Valley Zoo is one of them and is located in Schnecksville.  Featuring penquins, Mexican gray wolves, bobcats, zebras, and so much more within the scenic 1,100-acre Trexler Nature Preserve, Lehigh Valley Zoo is home to more than 275 animals representing 70 different species.  You can also enjoy paddle boats and horse-drawn wagon rides!  Guests can paddle their way around Lemur Island or take a wagon ride along the behind-the-scenes pathways of the Zoo.  It’s no wonder The Lehigh Valley Zoo won the 2011 Reader’s Choice Award for best family day trip!

2. Just 35 minutes from the Lehigh Valley, Crystal Cave is known as Pennsylvania’s greatest natural wonder!  With all there is to amaze your eyes and delight your curiosity, Crystal Cave is one of the regions must see attractions.  The 45 minute underground cave tour takes you through an array of spectacular stalagtites, stalagmites, and unusual rock formations, where you will enjoy a comfortable 54 degree decent 125 feet below the earth.  There are a variety of other attractions at Crystal Cave, all on their 125 scenic acres, including the Ice Cream Parlor and Restaurant, an unusual miniature golf course, a scenic nature trail, and everyone’s favorite, the ability to pan for gemstones!

3. SteelStacks in Bethlehem is an arts and entertainment center, located at the former site of the Bethlehem Steel plant, that offers fun, a variety of amazing buildings, and attractions that are open year-round.  The ArtsQuest Center is the main building that offers a cafe, performance art areas, a movie theater, a game room, a common area that offers comfortable seating, dining options, live music, and much more.  The Air Products Town Square is a venue that hosts festivals, live music performances and all types of local talent.  Visit their website for a list of performances, movie times and more!

Whether it’s a weekday or a weekend, there is always something fun to do in the Lehigh Valley.
