Become a part of Lehigh Valley history by taking a 30 mile guided whitewater rafting, canoeing, or kayaking trip down the Lehigh River. The 2011 Lehigh River Sojourn will be held Friday, June 24 through Monday, June 27, and will be an event so entertaining you won’t want to miss it.
Beginning in the Pocono Mountains and ending in Northampton, Sojourners travel through the heartland of the Lehigh Valley region experiencing all of the treasures of nature including scenic views, visits from resident wildlife, and a shared appreciation for preserving the environment. Stretching from the wild rapids of the Lehigh Gorge to more calming waters, the Sojourn entwines paddling excitement and adventure with important environmental and conservation achievements. The trip celebrates the history, importance, and significance of the Lehigh River to the region and beyond. Each day is filled with education programs, entertainment, laughs, and camaraderie.
The registration deadline for this spectacular event has been extended until Wednesday, June 15 and you can conveniently register online. Each day has its own registration fee. Items included in the registration fee are snacks, entertainment, an education program, shuttle transportation, and three meals for the day you are registered. Camping is included for the night before you join the trip (so you can wake up ready to go!) and/or the night after you paddle.

So what do you bring to the Lehigh River Sojourn? The Wildlands Conservancy suggests you bring:
•Swim apparel
•Rain gear
•Appropriate footgear (sneakers, hiking boots, water shoes; NOTE: flip-flops are not appropriate footgear)
•Warm clothes (sweaters and/or jackets)
•Emergency dry clothes (Fleece top, synthetic or woolen sweater. Anything but cotton!)
•Hats/visors
•Sunglasses
•Sunblock/suntan lotion
•Dry bag or double plastic bag (to keep things dry)
•Camping gear (if you plan to camp with us!)
•Snacks (especially if you have a specialized diet)
•Medication you will need
•Knee-pads (for canoers. it could make your trip more comfortable
