Discover Pennsylvania’s fastest-growing wine region, the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail, consisting of nine family-owned wineries that have won countless regional, state, national, and international awards, including more than 50 for wines made from Chambourcin, the wine trail’s signature grape. The fertile farmlands of the area provide an ideal growing environment, and the area’s close proximity to Philadelphia and New York City make the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail a beautiful and easy escape for wine lovers across the Mid-Atlantic region.
Each of the nine family-owned wineries have their own unique way of enticing wine lovers from across the region during March Madness. “Travel the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail during March Madness for a wine and food excursion! Your passport entitles you to one wine and food pairing per winery any weekend in March. In addition, you will receive a commemorative tile trivet from the wine trail. Complete all nine wineries and you can enter your passport for prizes!” The last weekend of March features chicken medallions and pasta florentine, roasted red peppers, artichokes, and mushrooms in a lite garlic wine sauce paired with Chardonnay.
Amore Vineyards and Winery
Pride and passion are evident in every aspect of this winery. Their location in Bath, the narrow limestone belt of the Lehigh Valley gives the soil a rich array of minerals that add unique complexity to all of their wine. Join them for the AVA Celebration on April 24-25, an event designed to celebrate the taste of their wine.
Big Creek Vineyard
Located in Kresgeville, Big Creek Vineyard is as far north as you can get to grow an unprecedented quality of grapes. The south-facing slopes of the main vineyard capture what the winter sun offers, and along with the slate/shale soils, the variety of grape and the manner in which they are grown, help ensure a mature, healthy crop.
Blue Mountain Vineyards & Cellars
Blue Mountain’s winery is a bit unusual since the tasting room is quite large and very California style with lots of open beams and windows. A state of the art tank room is directly below the tasting room, and an observation area looks down into impressive oak barrels. An all-season deck, which is completely glassed-in, provides panoramic views of the Blue Mountains, the vineyards, and ponds. With events happening almost every weekend, you are sure to visit more than once!
