The year 2010 brought many “firsts” to many people’s lives. Maybe you got married for the first time, had your first child, bought your first house, or found yourself in a sticky financial situation for the first time. Well, in the hopes of creating a long time holiday tradition, the city of Bethlehem, Pa introduced a first of their own in November 2010!
It’s called The Doors of Bethlehem. The businesses of downtown Bethlehem have put together a friendly competition that could have you winning a $1000 shopping spree to the great Downtowns of Bethlehem! Each of the participants’ entry doors is decorated for the holiday season and you get to decide who did it best! With 44 decorated doors on the North side of Bethlehem and 13 more on the South side, it is sure to be an amazing display of holiday spirit and lights!
There are two ways you can see all of the decorated Doors that Bethlehem has to offer.
Print this map of the two Downtowns of Bethlehem with the participants listed and take a self-guided tour of all the shops & restaurants’ decorated Doors. What a great way to spend an evening with your family or friends! Or you can see them all on their website. By voting for your favorite decorated Door, you could win a $1000 shopping spree.
Three different themed categories including Traditional, Theatrical, and Musical set apart each exquisitely decorated Door. The business owners chose the theme created their own rendition of the holidays. This first-time holiday event was made possible by The Downtown Bethlehem Association (DBA).
The DOWNTOWN BETHLEHEM ASSOCIATION is a council of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce and serves to revitalize, rehabilitate, promote and advance downtown business areas within the city of Bethlehem. It is an organization comprised of business owners who believe that unity is better than isolation and involvement is better than neutrality. The DBA organizes over 90 events each year with the end goal to drive foot traffic in Bethlehem’s two, vibrant downtowns.
The last day to vote for your favorite Door of Bethlehem is December 24, 2010. The city of Bethlehem is constantly introducing new things to the community to help it thrive.
